We are proud to offer a classic from modern literature! This is a "True" 1st edition of For Whom the Bell Tolls -- meaning, the first state (or first printing) of the first edition. Scribner's first printings are distinguished by the "A" under the copyright statement on the rear of the title page (see photos). The book is Very Good or better. The beige cloth is clean, the binding is square and tight, the text is unmarked and without flaws other than a pleasant age toning and cracked rear gutter paper (only the paper is cracked, not the mull -- gutter is sound). The dust jacket is chipped and etc. (see photos) and has been placed in a mylar cover with white paper backing to preserve it from further chips. The price of $2.75 is still present and not clipped. While the book is 1st state, the jacket is 2nd state with the photographer's credit below the photo of Hemingway (the 1st state jacket lacked this credit).
This will be a great acquisition for your library and a very affordable collectible book by this famous American author.
